4.6 Workshop Day

Today's lesson will be about:

Objectives
You will be able to:
  • Read peers’ writing and provide oral and written feedback on 3 body paragraphs and PIE structures. 
  • Decide whether to accept feedback from peers and reflect how to change one body paragraph.

1. Open your Solution2. 
2. On top of the document, write the topic and the full name of the organization (14 pt, Times New Roman).
3. Download and Open HD1. Fill out your name in Writer, blue box. 
4. Explain briefly about Solution2 to your partner. 
5. Change seats with your partner. 

6. After change the seats, fill out your name in Reviewer, blue box.
7. Follow the direction in HD1.

8. When you are done reviewing your partner's Solution2, go back to your seat. 
9. Before reviewing feedback, UPLOAD the file on Google Drive>>>Unit4. (Name the file "Solution2_feedback_Your First Name").
10. Read feedback from your partner, and plan how to change your Solution2. 
If you have any questions about feedback from your partner, ask what it exactly means, or ask for advice how to make it better. It is your chance to give/receive constructive feedback from your peer!

4.4 Research Paper Introductions & Conclusions

Today's lesson will be about:

You will be able to:
  • Identify 4 major sections of the problem-solution introduction paragraph: hook/starter, background information of the problem, background information of the organization, and thesis statement.
  • Evaluate appropriateness and impact of different kinds of hooks/starters for academic papers (e.g. statistics, quotations, anecdotes).
  • Construct a logical flow of information between the aforementioned sections.
  • Re-write their thesis statement from a new perspective for the beginning of the conclusion
  • Construct a logical flow of information highlighting key points of your research paper.
